Why are we celebrating?

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated every year from September 15 - October 15. Here in Danvers, we refer to this time as Latinx Heritage Month to recognize the achievements and contributions of Latinx, Hispanic, and Caribbean people.

This timeframe was chosen because many countries celebrate their independence in the month of September:

7 - Brazil

15 - Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua

16 - Mexico

18 - Chile

21 - Belize
