Dedication of LEGO cardinal sculpture created in loving memory of Lisa Bucco, Assistant Head of Children's Services who passed away in 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Open to all.
The LEGO cardinal was created in memory of Lisa Bucco by local artist Rob Surrette. Lisa was a valued member of the Peabody Institute Library of Danvers for 15 years. Prior to joining the library, she was a beloved Kindergarten teacher at St. Mary's School in Danvers. Hired at the Peabody Institute Library in 2006, she worked in all departments of the Library. Lisa especially loved working with children. She first worked as a Youth Services Librarian starting in 2014 and was promoted to Assistant Head of Children's Services in 2017. She established the Library's Spanish-English Language collection, which has now grown into the World Languages Collection.
Lisa also championed the ever-popular LEGO Club, which was an instant success. Many years later, it still draws a consistent full-house of children eager to build and create.
She will be remembered by her students, library patrons, family and many friends. Her memory and influence will live long into the future.
