Living Room Conversations
Wednesday, September 256:30—8:00 PMGordon RoomPeabody Institute Library of Danvers15 Sylvan Street, Danvers, MA, 01923
The Heathmere Center for Cultural Engagement’s Living Room Conversations use small, facilitated dialogues to invite diverse residents to learn about and discuss challenging topics. Our dialogues encourage participants to speak so that others can listen and listen in order to connect more deeply with others. These conversations help cultivate trust and build a dialogic culture, recognizing that mutual understanding, not agreement, is the foundation of any healthy community.
The subject of this session is How Do We Define Disability?
We will begin each session with a 10-15 minute presentation on a topic related to accessibility. We will then gather in small, facilitated dialogue groups to explore how we are impacted by experiences of, and challenges around, accessibility in our own communities.
An ASL interpreter will be available at each session.
This program is a partnership between the Heathmere Center for Cultural Engagement, the Danvers Accessibility Commission, and the Library
