Back in Action: Improving Mobility and Reducing Low Back Pain
Wednesday, October 306:30—8:00 PMGordon RoomPeabody Institute Library of Danvers15 Sylvan Street, Danvers, MA, 01923
Low back pain affects about 10% of the US population and can lead to serious disability at work and at home. Hundreds of billions of healthcare dollars are spent each year treating lower back pain when the current literature supports physical therapy and specific movements in improving pain and functional abilities. The good news is that risk factors such as impaired strength, flexibility, and ergonomic setup can be modified to reduce the intensity of these symptoms and lower the incidence of future back injuries. This seminar is tailored toward the entire Danvers community, whether you currently experience low back pain, have had low back pain in the past, or just want to understand how to prevent a future low back injury. A doctor of physical therapy will educate on low back pain and demonstrate some basic mobility and strength exercises that can reduce lower back pain. Following the seminar, there will be a Q&A and demonstration portion for those who are interested in trying these exercises and having a physical therapist review their form. Presented by Dana Hindman.
