Zoom Program: A Look Inside the Hammond Castle Museum

John Leysath, curator at Hammond Castle Museum will be digging even deeper into the life and inventions of the original owner, creator of the castle, and noted scientist John Hays Hammond Jr. Mr. Hammond was one of the most prolific inventors in U.S. history, and registered over 500 patents throughout his career.
Known as "the father of radio control," Hammond was a pioneer in many technologies, including television and sound recording. He counted among his friends and mentors Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, and Alexander Graham Bell. He was also a collector of ancient, medieval, and Renaissance artifacts, and built his castle-like home in Gloucester, Massachusetts in the late 1920s.
